إلا هو |Only you

There are secrets in this world, whispers uttered by the breeze
Seeds planted in the soul; fragrances that put at ease.

There are moments of surrender, a certain loss of ownership
A smile overtaking sorrows, upon reaching the core of worship.

For men of God, these moments bear a distinct sweetness.
A sense of oneness, upon reaching completeness.

Such a moment occurred to Abraham, a men of sacrifice,
When commanded to strike no matter the price.

And as he turned to the sky and gazed in the blue,
He said my secret is You. Only you, illah Hu.

There are secrets in this world, whispers uttered by the wind
Seeds planted in the soul; fragrances that put at ease.

These are moments of surrender, a certain loss of ownership
A smile overtaking sorrows, upon reaching the core of worship

Such a moment occurred to Muslim ibn Aqeel,
When Al-Hussain asked him to carry his name and his seal.

And Muslim’s answer was beyond yes and noes,
For his heart had surrendered, and to his master arose

And as He turned to the sky and gazed in the blue
He said My answer is you. Only you, illah Hu.

He set through the desert, two guides by his side
And surrounded by thirst, through the plains in the wide,

Muslim’s body was crumbling, and asking to surrender
But he thought of Al-Hussain, his face, his splendour,

And so he turned to the sky and gazed in the blue
My life is for you. Only you, illah Hu.

Kufa had often been, the tale of swaying loyalty
A few dinar and you could see, anyone’s reality.

And so by His side, where hours before thousand stood
Muslim was left alone for once and for Good

Brought to the court,  he was sentenced to death
Unphased with the verdict, in each of his breath

He was taken to be thrown, and yet he praised his creator
This was the ultimate price, for saying Allah is greater.

Standing at the edge, of the city’s great wall
Where others would kneel, this lion stood tall

And as He turned to the sky and gazed in the blue
His last words were You. Only you, illah Hu.
